Ayurveda Healing

Ayur means “life” and Veda means “knowledge”. Any knowledge which is systematic and based on facts is known as SCIENCE. This is why Ayurveda is understood as the science of life. Its origin is traced back to the vedic times about 5000 B.C. The overall maintenance of health, prevention of disease, treatment of disease at its root and rehabilitation of the patient is the basis of Ayurveda. Pulse diagnosis is one of the key methods of diagnosing diseases in Ayurveda.

Ayurvedic Health Consultations

Ayurvedic Health ConsultationsOftentimes, we are aware of certain levels of discomfort, but it is not enough to provoke great change. These kinds of discomforts can often lead to larger issues months or years down the road. Ayurveda serves to identify a person’s unique prakriti – ideal state of balance, determine patterns of imbalance (vikriti), and offer interventions using suitable diet, herbs, aromatherapy, pancha-karma, massage treatments, music, yoga and meditation to reestablish inner balance and harmony.

During your Ayurvedic consultation, we will address your health concerns from a physical, emotional and spiritual perspective. Integrating the theoretical frameworks of Ayurveda and modern science, your session will focus as much on you as a unique individual who is facing a health challenge as on the health challenge itself.

During a typical evaluation, your Ayurvedic Consultant takes a complete medical and lifestyle history and performs a physical evaluation that looks at the body both as a physical system as well as a field of intelligence — reflecting the needs and choices of a person’s life. Based upon this assessment, a personalized body/mind/spirit health-enhancing prescription is formulated. This will include recommendations for diet, stress management, exercise, emotional healing, nutritional and herbal supplements, and sensory modulation.

Ayurvedic medicine has been practiced for centuries. The definition of Ayurveda is the traditional Hindu system of medicine, which is based on the idea of balance in bodily systems and uses diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing. The basic principle of Ayurvedic medicine is to prevent and treat illness—rather than respond to disease—by maintaining a balance between your body, mind, and environment.

Ayurvedic herbs are rarely used on their own. One can be diagnosed in eight different ways within the Ayurvedic practice – by your pulse, stool, urine, tongue, appearance, touch, vision or speech. Once a diagnosis is made, treatment can take many forms, ranging from massage, yoga, and meditation to the consumption of plant-based tinctures, alcoholic beverages, and unique herbal preparations. Ayurveda has powerful benefits when it comes to creating balance and addressing physical, mental, and emotional health with a holistic approach.
